Bipolar

Bipolar disorder is a brain disorder that causes changes in a person’s mood, energy, and ability to function. People with bipolar disorder experience intense emotional states. There are three types of bipolar disorders: (1) bipolar I: full manic or mixed episode, usually with a major depressive episode; (2) bipolar II: a major depressive episode and hypomanic episode (less intense than mania); and (3) cyclothymic disorder: a less severe type of bipolar disorder (Sadock & Sadock, 2022).

Do you struggle with irritable moods, a decreased need for sleep, being more talkative, easily distracted, impulsive shopping, sad, or a lack of motivation? These and other symptoms could be signs of bipolar disorder, but they can also exhibit a different disorder. Let the providers at Elroi MHS help you decipher and pinpoint the problem.

We at Elroi Mental Health Services take on a collaborative approach with our patients to understand them, make them feel comfortable, and most importantly make them feel heard. We will successfully coordinate a treatment plan together, working closely with one another for a positive outcome.

Note: Your overall success is mostly dependent on you working with your provider, being willing to participate to reach your goal, and your overall response to treatment.
